We love poutine and our Air Fryer Poutine makes it easy to get our fix! Just 3 simple ingredients and you can get this Canadian favorite on the table in about 20 minutes!
Poutine is a very popular Canadian dish where you serve French fries with gravy and cheese curds on top of the fries.
I’ve never actually been to Canada (unless you count travelling around the world at Epcot, haha), but I’ve had my fair share of poutine.
Finding Poutine in a restaurant in the states can be tricky though. As a result, you have to make your own to fill your craving for this amazing dish.
Well, if you have looked at many of our other recipes, you would know that we try to capitalize on our air fryer by making all recipes as easy as possible. They have all been good, but none are quite the happy marriage that you get when you make poutine! The recipe tastes way more complicated than it actually is.

Ingredient Notes:
French fries – You can comfortably use frozen French fries for this recipe. Fresh fries are also an option, but we are going as easy as possible for this recipe.
Cheese– You’ll want white cheddar cheese curds for the ultimate poutine.
Gravy– We’re using a jar of savory beef gravy. Simple, flavorful, and easy!
How to Make Air Fryer Poutine the Easy Way:
Air fry the fries– Place your frozen fries in the air fryer basket and spritz them with oil spray. Cook at 380 degrees F for 15-20 minutes. Halfway through the cooking shake the basket to keep them cooking as evenly as possible.
Heat the gravy– While the fries are cooking, you should heat your gravy. Just follow the directions on your package, or if you are making your own this would be a good time to start. We want the gravy piping hot when it goes over the fires and curds – it will soften those cheese curds up for us and warm them.
Combine and serve– Place your cooked fries in a serving dish, immediately top with cheese curds, and then drizzle your hot gravy over the whole dish.
FAQ:
What are the best fries for poutine?
There is no wrong answer here. Basically, as long as you are using a fried potato you are doing good. We used normal, skinny fries for this recipe but you can use crinkle cut, waffle fries, steak fries, wedges, or even tater tots if you want to have fun!
What is the best gravy for poutine?
In short, it is your favorite gravy. Traditionally it is a brown/beef gravy. Many Canadians will use mushroom gravy also.
Should the cheese curds melt in poutine?
The cheese curds won’t fully melt, but the hot gravy and hot french fries will soften them up and they’ll be warm, soft, and a bit gooey. They definitely shouldn’t be cold.

Air fryer poutine is the easiest poutine recipe you will ever make! The entire dish uses only 3 ingredients. How can you get easier than that!?
Equipment
Ingredients
- 16 ounces frozen french fries
- 1 cup white cheese curds
- 1 cup beef gravy
Instructions
Arrange the fries in an air fryer basket and spritz with oil spray.
Cook fries at 380 degrees for 15-20 minutes, shaking halfway through until fries are as crisp as you’d like.
While fries are cooking, heat the gravy according to package directions. Make sure the gravy is very hot.
Place fries in a serving dish, top with cheese curds, and drizzle with the hot gravy.
Notes
You can use any fried potato for this recipe however you may need to adjust cooking time a little bit if you go with a thicker French fry.
The cheese curds will warm up from the hot fries and gravy, but don't expect them to melt. They'll hold their shape, but get soft and warm.
We use a jar of beef gravy, but homemade is a great choice too!
