Ethel Lenora McConnell, 91 of LaPlata, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, 1988 in a Kirksville Hospital.
Services were held Friday, Oct. 14, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina. Rev. Orville Shriver and Rev. Samuel Wood of LaPlata officiated the services. Burial was at the Locust Hill Cemetery, west of Novelty.
The daughter of Franklin D. and Fannie Hall Robb, she was born December 26, 1896 at Stahl, Mo.
On July 28, 1913 [sic] at Kirksville she married Elmer Washington McConnell and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1968.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Juanita L.) McCarty of LaPlata; two granddaughters, Mrs. Larry (Beth) Primm of Novelty and Mrs. Richard (Doneta) Harden of La Plata; seven greatgrandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Ruby Berniece Frazee on August 17, 1974; one sister, Lena; and a granddaughter, DeaAnn McCarty Fox on October 23, 1975.
Mrs. McConnell was raised by her Grandparents Hall in the Stahl community where she attended school. At the age of fourteen she was employed by the International Shoe Factory in Kirksville for a number of years. Later she and her husband moved to the Locust Hill Community near Novelty where they were engaged in farming for nearly thirty-five years. After their retirement in 1964 they moved to LaPlata and for the past six years Mrs. McConnell has been a resident at the Knox County Nurisng [sic] Home.
She was a member of the Loyal Friendship Club of Locust Hill; the United Methodist Church of LaPlata and the Kings Daughters of the LaPlata Presbyterian Church.
