Grounding of Storage TanksGrounding of Storage Tanks(OP) Can someone explain why fiberglass storage tanks are grounded? Recommended for youRE: Grounding of Storage TanksStatic electricity. RE: Grounding of Storage Tanks(OP) If tank is used for storing a non-flammable material is grounding still necessary? RE: Grounding of Storage TanksOnly conductive objects can be grounded and fiberglass composite is generally non-conductive. All conductive objects in a plant should be grounded, including piping and tanks. Fiberglass is not usually used for flammable materials because it is not fire resistant and it also is not conductive.
