Attention, Sydney residents! We have some important updates regarding mobile primary care clinics, specifically focused on upper respiratory issues. This is a friendly reminder that we're here to support your health and well-being, especially during these challenging times.
Breathing Easier: Mobile Respiratory Clinics to the Rescue!
The mobile upper respiratory access clinic is on the move, offering much-needed care to our community. Mark your calendars for the upcoming dates at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital's Ambulatory Care Clinic, located at 1482 George Street, Sydney. The clinic will be open every Saturday in January (17th, 24th, and 31st) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
But here's the catch: this is not a walk-in clinic. To secure your spot, you'll need to call 902-574-3275. The phone lines will be open at 7:30 a.m. on each clinic day for same-day appointments, but spaces are limited, so don't delay!
The clinic is designed to address non-urgent, low-acuity respiratory issues, so it's not an emergency service. Here's a sneak peek at some of the concerns they can help with:
- Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
- Influenza
- COVID-19
- Shortness of breath
- Cough
- Ear pain
- Sore throat
When you arrive, the team will ask about your specific concerns to ensure they can provide the right treatment. Remember to bring your health card!
And this is the part most people miss: there are other care options available too! Nova Scotians can access VirtualCareNS for free, temporary primary health care. Simply visit www.virtualcarens.ca to register or request a virtual visit. For general health advice, call 811, which is staffed by experienced registered nurses 24/7. If you're facing mental health or addiction challenges, the provincial crisis line is available 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167. And for more local resources and information, check out www.YourHealthNS.ca.
We'll keep you updated as more clinic dates and locations are confirmed. For now, you can find additional information at https://www.nshealth.ca/mobileprimarycareclinics.
