Game Description[]
Way up above, where clouds form and scatter, the Heaven-Splitter lies sheathed in the heaviest cloud. This divine weapon is the very essence of Stormbringer Cookie herself! Forged from the lightning that first struck Earthbread, legends tell that the Heaven-Splitter can cut anything into two. Its powers are so mystifying that it once split a huge tower and even created day and night by slashing through the skies! Then, Stormbringer Cookie gathered Life Powder and brought the Deities of Rain, Wind, and Clouds to life, thus creating the sacred cycle of Life Powder... This Cookie may sometimes laze around, munching on candied clouds, but whenever someone challenges her power, she wields her Heaven-Splitter high, ready to unleash her wrath! Be careful of what you pray to the skies, as even an inkling of arrogance will send Stormbringer Cookie to strike down with her lightning bolt!
Soulstone Description[]

Skill[]
Lightning Blitzstorm 13 sec | |
---|---|
Stormbringer Cookie, the ruler of the skies and lightning, becomes Supercharged when her CRIT% exceeds a certain percentage at the start of the battle, granting Supercharge buffs to Electricity-type ally Cookies. When Stormbringer Cookie becomes Supercharged, her regular attacks trigger Chain Lightning after a certain number of hits. Upon using her skill, she swings her Heaven Splitter, dealing damage to enemies and inflicting Zap. Whenever ally Cookies deal Electricity-type damage, it activates Stormbringer's Aura and inflicts Stormbringer's Punishment upon a certain amount of stacks. Stormbringer's Punishment deals damage and inflicts Overcurrent on enemies. If enemies are inflicted with Zap, they receive extra damage and their status changes to Overcurrent. Stormbringer's Aura resets when Stormbringer's Punishment is activated. | |

- Regular attacks hit all targets within melee range, dealing DMG equal to 211.0% of ATK.

Appearance[]
Stormbringer Cookie is an average height Cookie with tanned brown dough, with bright yellow tattoos going from up her shoulders down to her hands and legs. Her hair consists of two curled buns with jagged spiral designs set at opposite directions, reminiscent of a storm cyclone. Her bangs are split into three parts, with one bang in the middle of her face with a bright yellow thunder design, and the other two bangs pointed outwards with a bright yellow underlights. The rest of her hair is a dark grey with a fading dark yellow underlights and bright yellow highlights shaped into curls. She has two curls down her hair with a spiral design similar with her buns, only this time she has spiral highlights. Underneath, her hair is a dark-yellow with more jagged, curled ends.
Stormbringer Cookie has bright yellow eyes and thunder-shaped eyelashes and eyebrows. Her chest is bound with a plain white top, and she wears what seems to be a golden Qiankun Ring on one arm. She has a bright yellow and white Armillary Sash floating around her, with the ends curled and shaped like thunder. She wears light yellow colored baggy pants, with a yellow and black garment loosely tied around her waist; the garment is a yellow color on the left side and black on the right side, with each of the squared ends having a yellow-black color with a yellow spiral design on them. The garment resembled a shirt tied by the arm sleeves around her waist.
Her weapon, the Heaven Splitter (뇌전월도 [noejeon-woldo], "Electric Woldo" in Korean), is a woldo (월도) glaive with a blade shaped like a thunderbolt emerging from a cloud. Its handle pole is a dark oak color, and its opposite end is shaped like a smaller thunderbolt.
Personality[]
Despite being described as "benevolent being" by various myths, Stormbringer Cookie is shown to be very demanding towards others, often boasting of her authority and power as the Sky God. She takes pride in her title especially during battle, often being loud, obnoxious, and extremely self-assured in her power. She is also quite arrogant, regularly silencing Wind Deity Cookie whenever she hears a comment about her attitude, and even making up silly nicknames for others below her such as the Black and White Dragon, calling them a "snake" and a "worm". Considering even Dark Cacao Cookie's request for an audience to be a display of arrogance, her first interaction with with him was to see if he could block a direct attack from the Heaven Splitter.
Stormbringer Cookie appears to have a rather laid-back personality, often loafing around in the heavens and never feeling the weight of her responsibilities. She deems only the skies to be her area of concern, and thus tends to act only when a threat directly challenges her domain. Even then, it requires the Three Deities noticing such threats first and then informing her of them before she cares to act. Although she is aware of what Dark Enchantress Cookie has been doing on Earthbread, as well as the potentially-awakening source of Dark Cacao Cookie's power, she has no drive to take action on such knowledge as long as she doesn't feel directly challenged.
Despite this, Stormbringer Cookie spends much of her time watching and observing Earthbread, having an interest towards "land-dweller Cookies", and is ultimately capable of acting for the good of others. She is immensely proud of the three Deity Cookies, often boasting about how powerful they are, and shows great care towards them deities despite outwardly grumbling about them being bossy and demanding. When she finds the motivation, she takes great satisfaction in upholding her own personal brand of justice, smiting those who dare wrong her with all her might.
Character Inspiration[]
Stormbringer Cookie's character appears to take inspiration from multiple sources across different East Asian cultures.
Korean Inspiration[]
Hwanung[]
In Muism and general Korean mythology, Hwanung (환웅) was the princely son of Haneunim/Hwanin (하느님/환인), a sky god and the lord of heaven. He had an entourage in Pungbaek (풍백), the lord of the wind, Unsa (운사), the lord of clouds, and Usa (우사), the lord of the rain. Hwanung's familial association with the heavens and a control over them line up with Stormbringer Cookie's own heavenly dominion, and his three elemental ministers match directly with Stormbringer Cookie's cabinet of Wind Deity Cookie, Cloud Deity Cookie, and Rain Deity Cookie. Furthermore, Hwanung is said to have been responsible for creating laws and codes of morals in the lands of Korea, similarly to how Stormbringer Cookie upholds justice in smiting wrongdoers.
Focusing on the god's subordinates, Pungbaek was said to have seniority and/or a higher amount of power compared to the other two deities;[1] this mirrors Wind Deity Cookie's closer relationship with Stormbringer Cookie and Wind Deity Cookie's ability to speak more freely towards her. Moreover, Pungbaek is often depicted in modern media as always holding a hand fan much like Wind Deity Cookie.
Overall, Stormbringer Cookie being inspired by a mythical Korean figure of high import, especially one directly related to the creation of Joseon, correlates with her headquarters being in the Dark Cacao Kingdom, a land heavily based on Joseon-era Korea.
Ungnyeo[]
It is possible that Stormbringer Cookie takes inspiration from Hwanung's wife, Ungnyeo (웅녀), as well. The origin tale of Ungnyeo tells that she was once a bear who was transformed into a human woman after sustaining herself on just 20 cloves of garlic and a bundle of mugwort for 21 days; the protrusions atop Stormbringer Cookie's head may in fact be bear ears (or were made to resemble such), and her color scheme is quite like that of black and yellow bears like the Asian black bear (Ursus thibetanus) or the sun bear (Helarctos malayanus). Ungyneo may have also influenced Stormbringer Cookie's more feminine presentation.
Gunungsin[]
Besides citing specific figures of inspiration, it can be assumed that Stormbringer Cookie also takes thematic inspiration from Gunungsin (군웅신), which are military gods in Muism such as General Hwadeok (화덕장군). These spirits are divine commanders over war, often harboring elemental powers and being referred to with the honorific "-장군" (jang-gun), signifying that they are military generals. This connects to Stormbringer Cookie through her similar mystical power over lightning and vicarious control of the wind, clouds, and rain through her underling deities. Along with this, Stormbringer Cookie's original Korean name, 뇌신무장 쿠키 (noesin-mujang kuki), contains "무장," a Hangul-phoneticized version of the Hanja "武將," which translates to "[military] general" in English; this directly mirrors the Gunungsin's positions as war generals. Lastly, Gunungsin are often depicted as having woldo (월도) glaives as their weapon of choice[2], and Stormbringer Cookie's Heaven Splitter is directly referred to as a woldo in the Korean text of Cookie Run: Kingdom (뇌전월도 [noejeon-woldo], "Electric Woldo").
Chinese Inspiration[]
Leigong/Leishen[]
Leigong/Leishen (雷公/雷神) is a thunder god in Taoism and Chinese mythology. This deity's main duty is to smite evildoers—both of the mortal and spiritual varieties. Like Hwanung, he had subordinates with masteries over wind, clouds, and rain, those being Fengbo/Feng Po Po (風伯/风婆婆), Yun Tong (云同), and Yu Shi (雨师) respectively. This, too, matches Stormbringer Cookie in her unending crusade against the villains of the earth and her three heavenly auxiliaries associated with wind, clouds, and rain.
Moreover on the latter, the tools used by these three deities partly match those used by their Chinese equivalents (or at least one of the other deities in the group); for example, Yu Shi, the master of rain, was said to use a sword to summon rainstorms, with Rain Deity Cookie also having something resembling a sword as an implement. While Fengbo is the master of wind, he carries a bag similar to Cloud Deity Cookie's own bag of clouds. There is also Feilian (飞廉), a wind spirit who eventually became known as one in the same with Fengbo, who has an avian body much like Wind Deity Cookie.
Nezha[]
Nezha (哪吒) is a mythical deity in numerous facets of belief, including Chinese Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Chinese folk religion. The most immediate similarities between he and Stormbringer Cookie are those of their physical appearances: like Stormbringer Cookie, Nezha is almost always depicted with two buns atop his head, a belt or other wrapping around his waist, a golden Qián Kūn Quān (乾坤圈)/Universe/Qiankun Ring on one of his arms, and a floating Húntiānlíng (浑天绫)/Armillary Sash about his elbows, the latter two signifying his divinity. Stormbringer Cookie's use of her Heaven Splitter glaive is also quite like Nezha's emblematic Huǒ Jiān Qiāng/Fire-tipped Spear (火尖槍).
Notably, one of Nezha's great acts is his conflict with the Dragon King Ao Guang (敖光); according to The Investiture of the Gods (封神演義, fengshen yanyi), Ao Guang was a dragon who caused natural disasters like droughts and storms and was eventually physically beaten by Nezha. These occurrences reflect Stormbringer Cookie's battle with of the Black and White Dragon for causing unrest in the world's landscape and coveting its sprawl. Due to his feats, Nezha is often considered a harbinger of justice[3] much like Stormbringer Cookie herself.
Other Inspiration[]
Though not particularly relating to Korean or Chinese tradition, the phenomenon of a thunder god slaying a serpent or dragon, much like Stormbringer Cookie versus the Black and White Dragon, is one that is hugely pervasive throughout many of the world's separate mythologies.[4]
Trivia[]
