If you're an #Iowan you know what these words mean, #native and #captive. I am technically an outsider to Iowa because I was borned and raised in #Memphis. I moved my son and me to Iowa to start a new chapter because I could not get a good paying in job back home. I never believed people that would say, they were told, "they are overqualified," till it happened to me. I was over hearing that, so I started sending my resume out to jobs that fit what I was looking for. I had already had to move back home with my parents due to the financial stress of 2008. So, I said the first place to call me and have a good offer, we are going. Before I moved here, I checked out demographics and crime because Memphis has too much #racism, #hate and way too much crime. I did not want my son to grow up in either of those environments. Iowa checked all the boxes! Rented the one-way uhaul and moved. I arrived here on January 19, 2009 wearing shorts and flip flops, and it was #snowing. How did I not check the weather? Snow is a no go. Also, they just experienced a flood on my #birthday just the year before. WHAT? I moved where I still have to deal with #floods and even more #naturaldisasters. Okay, cool! Three-years, and we are out. Here is where we talk about native vs. captive again, I am the definition of captive, as I still live in Iowa ... 15-years and 7 months later. That was a very long story to say, here is one of the reasons to stay. I still ask every winter, why do I still live here, but then the snow melts and #awesomestuff like this becomes your #happyplace! There is so much to do here in this beautiful state, but it gets better, we are central to the rest of the US. We can hop in the car and just drive! #backroads #grantwood #scenicbyways #nature If you're #local or not, I recommend following this blog because it does an #amazingjob keeping you in the know! Iowa is my #home!

Eryn Burright and I love getting out in the field and spreading the word about Quantum Fiber! We made our stops at the local garages to give our techs some hydration goodie bags, which include protein, electrolytes and fruit! We stopped by some local small businesses with Melissa Garrett-Nelson to show some love with goody bags! We had a couple of new neighborhoods turn up with fiber, so we got out and placed some yard signs and clings on our peds. Last up, and maybe one of favorite events, the Valley Junction Farmer's market. I love visiting the main street in Valley Junction any day, but this day was even better because ... well, dogs and lots of great conversations! Our local door-to-door sales rep, MICK LANGEL was onsite talking about our deals, fast fiber internet and all about our Price for Life with no contract options.

Here at Quantum Fiber, we work within the communities we serve and love to be involved with community activities. This video will showcase a few properties we hosted #backtoschool supplies by providing a survey for the residents to fill out with the number of children in their household and their grade. We had a lot of fun working with these properties and the residents.
