As Love Is Blind season 4 enters its wedding phase, the one question is how much money the cast members get paid, and if the show pays for everything including the apartment. Netflix's reality show Love Is Blind hit the West Coast for the first time in its history to provide a new kind of drama. The cast consisting of 30 Seattle-based singles hoping to find true love in the pods has now narrowed down to only five couples, with one split already proving love is not so blind after all.
Love Is Blind season 4 has aired 8 episodes so far, giving viewers enough nail-biting and cringe-worthy moments alike to ponder upon. When a male cast member pops out a ring, the number one question that comes to mind is where the engagement rings come from. As it turns out, all men are presented with dozens of options of rings they can pick from when they're ready to pop the question, unless they brought along one of their own. This means that Love Is Blind pays for the ring, but the show may also pay for the cast's salaries, apartment, honeymoon, and wedding budgets.
How Much Money Do Love Is Blind Couples Make?
As reported by The Independent, Love Is Blind contestants are indeed paid a small salary. Apparently, a lawsuit filed by former Love Is Blind season 2 contestant Jeremy Hartwell in July 2022 revealed that the stars are paid $1,000 per week, which adds to $8,000 considering the duration of filming the show. In the lawsuit, Jeremy alleged that the production paid “less than half of the applicable minimum wage rate of $15.00 per hour” in California. According to him, the cast was working for about 20 hours per week.
Does The Love Is Blind Cast Pay For The Getaway & Apartment?
According to Women's Health, "The participants are paid little if anything" and "They are truly in it to find love!" Before the weddings, all the engaged couples usually head to a fancy resort for a romantic getaway and only then head home. In Love Is Blind season 1 and 2, the couples filmed in Mexico, and season 3 was shot in Malibu. For Love Is Blind season 4, the couples stayed at the luxurious TRS Yucatán Hotel in Playa del Carmen. Narcity reported that production covers these expenses, as well as the apartment the couples stay in after the trip.
Who Pays For Love Is Blind Weddings?
A production rep told Women’s Health that the Love Is Blind season 1 couples paid for the majority of their own weddings. The production seemingly supplies some of the “basics,” but because these are real weddings of real couples even though they’ve never seen each other before getting engaged, “It’s up to them as to how to spend their money.” The basics in this case include the venue, food, and music if the couple goes through with the wedding. However, the weddings are all filmed at the same venue, which does make things slightly cheaper for both Love Is Blind couples and the producers.
